Throne Room Brothers and Sisters, I have something the Lord has put on my heart today to help encourage us and also has some Holy Spirit teaching.
We are so hungry and thirsty for the Lord and His Truth, His Presence. It’s ONLY in His Presence that there is FULLNESS of Joy. However, many people do not realize that they are actually “hungry and thirsty” for JESUS. Many make the mistake of thinking they are PHYSICALLY hungry or thirsty…but it’s their SOUL that is HUNGRY for the the Lord Who is their LIVING BREAD.
Many times sadly due to this lack of revelation, others will SEARCH for ways to satisfy this constant “hunger.” This can come out in various ways besides just physical food and drink. People also can get pulled into various distractions, clothes, relationships, sex, work, sometimes sadly, even church activities itself to try to “fill this hunger” or “unquenchable thirst.”
As a result, many end up in addictions, strongholds and various bondage of the enemy… all because they tried to fill or satisfy a God given HUNGER and THIRST in their SOUL for the Lord. God put it there AND only God can satisfy it.
Lord Jesus ran into those that followed Him making this mistake as well. He knew their hearts and many followed Him to be naturally fed at times or for the physical miracles they saw Him perform, but He wanted them to go deeper then that. He wanted to get them into a deeper spiritual place, beyond the natural.
He wanted to not only draw them into eternal life, but also daily personal relationship with Him, to be dependent on Him and desire to commune with Him daily.
People during that time equated bread to a much needed daily staple that they need to survive. Jesus was trying to get them to realize that HE was their daily staple, yes they needed HIM to SURVIVE. One place He expressed this powerfully was in John 6:35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
Another great scripture (and there are more) is Isaiah 55:1-2 “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.”
Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.
Notice the Lord says twice “Listen, listen to Me.” He is not talking about actual physical bread, wine and milk here, He is using it as a analogy. There is a deeper meaning He is trying to convey here. Listen: What He says, His Words are the Words of Life.
Notice there is an FREE OPEN INVITATION here also. “Come” He beckons, ALL who are thirsty, needy, hungry and to COME AND receive! Be filled without having to pay! It is FREELY given to you!
What a beautiful picture here of the Lord’s BIG HEART, His abundance of grace, His invitation for personal relationship, for ALL to come, to listen to Him, to help yourself freely! What love, what generosity and abundance of heart our Abba Papa has towards us! If we would only accept His invitation and go to Him, sit at His feet, listen to Him and freely receive, oh how we would THEN be truly SATISFIED!
I truly believe RIGHT NOW, that the Lord is increasing that hunger and thirst for Him on purpose, to draw us to Him, to get us to pursue Him in intimacy as He pursues us, in such ardent passionate Love. God IS love. He does not just love us, He is IN LOVE with us! He is the Lover of our souls! He GAVE His ALL FOR US! He wants intimacy with us and only HE can satisfy us. If we don’t get this then we will be vulnerable to all that is on the earth trying to pull us away from Him, trying to starve us and dehydrate us. No. We must realize He is our very sustenance, our Life.
Below we see David getting revelation of this truth, atlas, in a “wilderness” season. So sad that it often takes us to go through our own “wilderness” season to finally “get it” and accept His ongoing invitation which is always there…to come to Him, receive His Love and to Him, Who truly satisfies.
Psalm 63 A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
63 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
3 Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
4 So I will bless you as long as I live;
in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food,
and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,
6 when I remember you upon my bed,
and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
7 for you have been my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.
8 My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
