Will you do what God is calling you to do?

posted in: teaching 9

I read an article by a brother in Christ that echoed things I have been dealing with regarding my calling in the Lord. The question for us all is are we willing to do what God has called us to do no matter what?

I remember when the Lord first began giving me visions, words, interpretations of tongues and/or prophetic words. I did not know the proper terminology at the time and honestly, even years later, I still don’t pay much attention to that unless God is telling me to label it for teaching.

However, what I care about is that it is God I am hearing from and that I communicate what He wants me to in the way He wants me to. I have learned that this is my job, or maybe you could say calling… or training…on the way to my calling…

You are Like a UPS Delivery Person in Christ

The Lord said one time to me in prayer, “Daughter, you are like a UPS delivery person or messenger, you are my mouthpiece. Your job is to deliver the package I have to that person or group. You deliver it, daughter. Once you deliver it, then it is on them to respond accordingly. Again, it is not on you what they do with the message. You just obey Me and then you have done your job well.”

He showed me that some people will not even get the package because it will get stolen by someone (representing the enemy). Others will get the package but then will be too afraid to open it up. Still, others, may open it up, but not recognize the value and importance of what they have just unwrapped.

Some will open it and get excited but then quickly forget about it as they get distracted by other things in their lives. But many others will not even receive the package for themselves…they will think it is something strange that showed up at their door and won’t understand that they ordered this through prayer and they are receiving their answer in the form of this package…!

However, the Lord showed me there will also be many that will get the message loud and clear and because they are not ready or don’t want to hear it, they will get angry at the messenger as the Holy Spirit lovingly pierces their hearts. “They did it to Me, said the Lord, they will do it to you too daughter.” I said, “Lord wait, that doesn’t really encourage me LOL…”He said, “I know daughter, but it is true.”

Delivering words of the Lord, that people may not want to hear or even believe takes immense courage and faith. Teaching, training, and equipping on topics that some may or may not want to hear, prayer intercession, and prophetic acts that may look strange to some and even myself, and yet… this is what God is calling me to do, more and more, as well as many others across the globe.

If God is calling me to do this…then simply stated: I need to do it and I make no apologies for it. He is God and I am not. And whatever God has called you to do beloved, you need to do it without apology.

Say it with me:

“God is Who I belong to, the Lord is Who came for me and died for me, no one else. I answer to the Lord. Obedience is the Lord’s love language. Who am I to dare question what He leads me to do, what He has chosen to do, what He predestined me to do before the foundations of the earth? He chose me, I did not choose Him, the Bible is clear on this. He chose my calling, the gifts, and how He created me. It was His choosing, not mine. He is God. I must obey Him.”

What About You?

So what about you? What do you feel God is asking you to do? Is it hard? Are you willing to do it? Sticking out your neck daily, and being persecuted in various ways is one perspective, but another perspective is that we have the honor and joy of being used by almighty God to see people saved, healed, and delivered! It is amazing! There is no greater joy than being in the presence of our God! Yet we often get caught up in the negative things people say to us. Why do we do that? Lord forgive us when we do this. May we put our eyes back on the Lord Jesus with grateful hearts and honor Christ Jesus Himself and Christ in each other, realizing that this is ultimately not about us and our feelings and opinions, it is about life vs death, it is all about Jesus and what God has chosen us to do before we were even on the earth!

Each part in the body of Christ matters and each one of us will answer to the Lord. We are held accountable for the portion we have been given, think of the parable of the talents. As Christians, we are to die to self and live as Christ in us and through us. The Bible says we are to speak the very words of God.

We all have various perceptions, maturity levels, revelations by the Holy Spirit, etc. May we understand that each part of the Body of Christ is called to do, different things in different ways. Every person God has created has different DNA!

We are each doing our specific part as best as we can by His grace as God has called us to. Again, the Lord did not use this analogy of a Body superfluously. Think about it, if the only parts of your body working are a few fingers, one eye, a few tendons, a kneecap, and one arm, how do you think you’d be doing? LOL.

Yet, your leg, no matter how much it may want to be a nose, cannot be! Nor can your nose help you walk! Now, does it make sense for you to get angry at your nose for not being a leg? Of course not, it was never intended to be a leg. It was not created to walk. That is not its job.

Similarly, how many times in the Body of Christ do we get angry at certain parts who are just doing what they have been created to do? How often do we not do the part that we have been created to do because we are worried that someone else is going to judge us or get angry with us, be jealous of us, etc.? We need to stop going by other people and instead, go by God.

I pray that this post encourages you and sobers you along with me today, to rise and walk in who God has created you to be with no more apologies. Don’t shrink back, let the Lord rise in you and work through to the glory of His Kingdom in Jesus’ Name amen!

Does this resonate with you? Would love to hear your comments.

  8. Amen dear brother Ken, I understand the struggle with this so much and I’m so grateful that the Lord is so gracious to us and helps to remind us of the Truth of how it is all about Him and He is the One that chose us and our calling. How amazing…and oh ho we need to be reminded not only for humility but also for courage of which I believe interestingly go hand and hand LOL. The Lord said in the bible so many times, take courage, be strong and courageous etc.

I understand also about wondering at times if you are making a difference as well as how others respond or don’t…which is what really brought this up in prayer with the Lord. I was feeling discouraged at that time and the Lord gave me that analogy of which I need to remind myself of periodically! I’m so glad this has made a difference for YOU and praise God for it!

Keep fighting the good fight of faith brother and running your race. God bless you for all that you do in the Lord and by His power working within you! Thank you for taking the time to stop, read and comment, that encourages me as well 🙂

    Sister,
I am truely humbled by this .
You have inspired me; I truely try to deliver ONLY what God placed on my heart.
There are times, even I wonder if I’m making a difference.
I must constantly remind myself, that it is God who is doing the work thru each of us – I’m just the vessel, the messinger.
What they do with it is between them and God Almighty.
Thank-you for your OBEDIENCE to the Lord.
