Perseverance- an encouraging word

Encouraging Word on Perseverance

posted in: Encouragement 4

Are you going through a really difficult time right now? Do you feel like things are being long and drawn out? Are you feeling weary?

The Lord showed me the word “PERSEVERANCE.” He had me look at it with an extra “e” to highlight the word severe.

The definition of Perseverance is a continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition: the action or condition or an instance of persevering: steadfastness.

However, I find it interesting that the Holy Spirit also broke it down more with me below.

PER – SEVERE – ANCE.

The definition of PER is by the means or agency of or through.

The definition of SEVERE is causing discomfort or hardship, requiring great effort, rigorous, of a great degree, arduous, a severe test.

The definition of ANCE is action or process, quality or state, and amount or degree.

PER SEVERE ANCE is PREPARING you through SEVERE hardships and great degrees of discomfort that require great effort and are testing you severely.

The degree to which you allow perseverance to take its course in you and your situations with the Lord will determine the quality or state in which you will end up (ANCE).

It’s important to remember that God does not tempt us. As our Loving Father, He also does not put sickness, accidents, or evil on us.

If Jesus paid for it on the cross, then it is done. John 10:10 clearly states that the thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

The devil comes to destroy us, and God will take that and turn it around for good (Romans 8:28).

So don’t let the devil try to twist God’s character when you are in the midst of tribulations. The Lord told us in advance that we would have tribulations in John 16:33. “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Notice He did not say that He was causing it, just that in the world, you would have it. He then proceeds to speak life and encouragement.

I speak life, strength, and encouragement over you today in the Name of Jesus. Take heart in the Lord’s words no matter what you are going through. You are an overcomer in Christ.

There is a difference between a spiritual attack and persevering through something God uses to grow you (e.g., patience, grace, forgiveness, giving).

If you find yourself under spiritual attack, you still need to persevere. Sometimes, you need to encourage yourself in the Lord as David did.

Praise and worship, speaking the word, praying in the Holy Spirit, reaching out for help, being still, and resting in the Lord are all part of fighting the good fight of faith. That is also perseverance.
